Broadstairs & St Peter’s Town Council has awarded £7,000 to support 10 new Wind Futures places, giving young people in Broadstairs who may not otherwise be able to afford kitesurfing lessons the chance to learn and progress in the sport.

All six participants in the first Wind Futures group are now progressing through their funded kitesurfing lessons, with several already reaching the milestone of getting up and riding on the water.

East Kent Kitesurfing Community (EKKC) is proud to announce the successful completion of the first two Wind Futures youth kitesurfing taster sessions, introducing 12 young people from Thanet, Whitstable and Canterbury to one of the UK’s fastest-growing watersports.

Instead of being run by the local kite schools, the event will now take place under the umbrella of the East Kent Kite Club (EKKC) – a newly formed, BKSA-registered club bringing together kitesurfers from across the whole of East Kent. Our aim is to strengthen the community, share the stoke, and use our sport as a force for good.
