Western Undercliffe, located on the east shore line of Thanet’s coast, is a massive expansive bay ideal for beginners and freestyle riders. The tide moves in and out of the bay quickly so don’t get caught out by a fast creeping tide whilst packing down.

Local Knowledge:
“The beach is only accessible 2 hours either side of low tide. It moves very fast so if you arrive at the lowest point of the tide and set up right along the shore line, your bag will end up in the sea. Aim to arrive and be on the water an hour before low tide not to be disappointed.
This spot is well known for it’s gusty conditions and as a result lot of chop. Please be careful when kiting on a South Westerly wind that there’s enough power to stay upwind, otherwise you will end up downwind on the sea wall, harbour rocks or worse case in the harbour or pushed down to Ramsgate main sands.
This beach on some tides has a sandbar at low tide. Often you will see seals hanging out there. It is fine to visit but please be careful and respectful of the local wildlife.
Please avoid disturbing birds where possible.”
How To Use The Bay
The beach can be accessed by stairs leading onto the beach from the sea wall. There is a walk way that leads to a ramp, watch out for the slippy sea weed two thirds of the way down. From the bottom of the ramp, you will need to walk across
