Skill Level – The Street – Beginner
The Street, Whitstable & Long Rock (The Point), located on the north coast, these spots are closer to the Thames estuary than the Thanet Spots and the Isle of Sheppey. Both are great for all levels at the right tide states.
Riders commonly use The Street at low tide. In fact, The Street is one of the few freestyle spots in East Kent. As a result, don’t be surprised if you see handle passes, KGBs and the odd F16 fly-by. Intermediate and advanced riders will also use Long Rock at mid to high tide.

Local Knowledge:
“Wind direction:
Works in any wind direction that has a northerly component.
Tidal state:
The street – It is a long spit of shingle and sand which only shows at low tide. Kiting works there two hours either side of low tide.
Long Rock – Can be used in all tidal states but beginners should avoid mid and high tide when the lack of shallow water and groynes could cause problems.
Hazards:
Groynes – These can be avoided at low tide at both spots.
The beach is shared with beachgoers, very busy in the summer – best avoid in many cases.
Rocky and stoney areas under foot, including kite eating mussel beds at Long Rock – boots a must.”
