About EKKC Activities

Our Mission

Access & Outreach

Kitesurfing

Community

Our vision is a thriving east Kent water sports community, where everyone, regardless of background can access our beautiful coastline and enjoy the benefits of nature sport and community in a safe and sustainable manner.

Kitesurfing can be life-changing — but it’s not always easy to get started. That’s why one of our key aims is to break down the barriers to entry. EKKC raises funds and builds partnerships to help young people and those from underrepresented or disadvantaged backgrounds access lessons, gear, and safe progression paths into the sport. We want to make sure the freedom, confidence, and joy of kitesurfing is open to everyone, not just the lucky few.

Kitesurfing is at the heart of what we do. EKKC exists to support the local kiting scene across East Kent, from Margate and Ramsgate to Pegwell Bay and beyond. We encourage progression at all levels — whether you’re learning your first body drag or boosting over the pier. By sharing session info, safety tips, and local knowledge, we help riders make the most of our incredible coastline while keeping things fun and respectful on the water.

We're more than a group of riders — we’re a community. EKKC brings together kitesurfers of all backgrounds to share sessions, stories, and a deep connection to the sea. We advocate for access, represent the voice of local riders, and host community meetups and social events to keep the stoke alive on and off the water. Everyone's welcome — from wind chasers and storm riders to fair-weather cruisers and total newcomers.

Facts About East Kent Kite Community

The East Kent Kitesurfing Community (EKKC) is home to over 50 active riders, 12+ instructors, and a growing scene of wind and water enthusiasts across more than a dozen kite sports. Some members have been kiting for over 20 years, others since childhood, and many have been part of the scene for a decade or more. With new locals and visiting riders joining all the time, EKKC represents a dynamic, inclusive and experienced community that thrives on shared stoke, sea time, and supporting each other on and off the water.
